Top 10 Keys to Get UNstuck and Back in the Folw

Mon, Apr 25, 2011

I hope you enjoyed 1 through 5 presented in the video. Here is 6 through 10 as promised.

#6 It is so important to be authentic. Be true to who your are, make decisions from your true-self and be confident that you are special & unique in the world. There is only one YOU! Many people live their life doing things they feel they “have to” out of obligation rather than things they want to. A lot of people do things just to make someone else happy but not themselves. How do you start living more authentic? Live in line with your core values and passions. It is much easier to make decisions and get clear when you know what your core values are, what makes you happy and what your passions are. So, make a list! First, what are your 5 core values? Mine for example are a focus on continuous personal growth, commitment to honesty, using humor & being lighthearted (life is too short to be too serious:), dedication to great health and giving, receiving and acting with love. Second, give some thought to what your passions are and what brings you the most joy in life? For me I love to share my message of Limitless Living, helping people tap into their full potential. I love golf & hiking and other outdoor activities, I love music & movies and connecting with powerful, happy, driven and all around amazing people. Whenever your stuck just clarify if you’re aligned with your passions and values. If you do this you can then make a decision that is in line with your authentic self, it will feel good and you will be back in the flow in no time.

#7 Make a Change. Shake things up a bit! It’s easy to feel stuck when you ARE stuck, doing the same things, eating the same things, going the same places, wearing the same clothes day after day, week after week, year after year. It’s funny what can happen, the ideas that may flow into your head simply by having a new experience. Go out to eat at an Indian or Thai restaurant. Buy an outfit you like but that you normally wouldn’t wear, instead of making the excuse “I like it but it’s not really me” or “When will I have a chance to wear that”. Get a new hairstyle, visit an art gallery or go see a movie alone and watch something you wouldn’t normally go see. New experiences create new energy and ideas. You may meet someone new or learn something about yourself you never knew, like you love Indian food! Just a simple break from the usual can get the juices flowing. It may help you get a new perspective which in turn may get you moving again.

#8 Run Like the Wind! Running has physical and chemical affects that can help clear the mind! Here is a excerpt from an article written by Elizabeth McLeod Sadler at,

“Runners say the intense exhilaration and euphoria that comes after a run is what motivates them most. In fact, this euphoria comes from a betaendorphin release triggered by the neurons in the nervous system. Intended to alleviate the pain after a run, it creates a feeling of extreme happiness and exhilaration. Runners become addicted to this intense high, and it can often replace other addictions to drugs, alcohol, and even food. While runners claim to achieve more energy in daily life from running, it also helps bring appetite, exercise and food into balance. Furthermore, as running makes the body function better, it improves sleep, eating, and relaxation.”

You will also find that the solitude of running or just time away from a problem can be nice. Plus, anything that helps increase positive brain activity will help when you feel foggy and need clarity. So exert yourself a bit, go for a run, raise your heart rate; get the body moving and your mind will follow!

#9 Get inquisitive, ask better questions. It’s really hard to come up with the right answers when you’re asking the wrong questions. Heck, a lot of people won’t even bother with inquiring on why they’re stuck to begin with. I’m not sure why except that maybe they’re scared if they find out why they’re “Stuck” they will no longer be able to avoid it and will have to something about it, ignorance is bliss as they say. The reality, ignorance is only bliss in the short-term. In the long-term ignorance or avoiding a problem causes way more pain than facing it ever could. It is also important to ask the right questions. For example if you’re suffering from problems with money it’s not enough to ask, “how can I get more money”? A better question(s) is/are – What can I do to make myself more valuable at work to earn a promotion? What product or service can I create that will add more value to my clients or solve a bigger problem for them? How can I manage the money I have now better? What are some ways that I can educate myself on saving, investing, personal finance etc…? The better the questions the clearer the answers, the faster the UN-sticking 😉

#10 Just DECIDE! Most people will avoid making decision because of fear. It is often 1 of 3 fears. They either fear making the wrong or bad choice, fear being told No or fear failing. First, 90% of the time you won’t know what the wrong choice is. You can spend forever waiting until something is perfect and get nothing done or think you’re making the perfect choice only to find out there was a better way. That is why hindsight is 20/20! Now you have to change or improve something and learn from your mistake anyway and your days, weeks or years behind where you would’ve been in many cases. Here is key to remember that I learned long ago, Fail, Forward, Fast! The most successful people decide confidently and quickly making adjustments along the way. Until you have an experience or some outcome to gauge and learn from you often won’t know what the best choice is. As Allison Maslan said in her most recent blog post which I loved is:

“Not making a decision is making a decision. It’s choosing to stay stuck. Even the wrong decision is better than no decision because it begins the forward movement to your dreams.”

Another great quote I like (its been discovered this quote is a mix of Faust and Goethe) is:

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back– Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

Finally, fear of the word No. It can’t hurt you and everything is a no until you ask, so ask and then keep asking. Jack Canfield co-author of the Chicken Soup of the Soul series was rejected and told no by 140 publishers before some picked up his book. So were those No’s failures? They would have been if he gave up at 140, luckily 141 said YES!

I wish for you clarity, power, focus and Peace. If you enjoyed this post I ask that you share it with your friends and family who you think might benefit from the lessons given in this post. Thank you!

Peace & Prosperity,

    Dear Dallas,
WOW!! You really brought in the BIG GUNS with these powerful strategies. I love that you started with Get Quite. As a mom with 2 kids now lol 🙂 This is often difficult esp with a newborn. But I believe this ritual is even more important with kids or if you have 2-4 businesses or own 2-3 blogs it doesn’t matter. Taking time for solitude, stillness, & silence the 3’s is crucial for one’s growth
2.) Write it down is also HUGE! And is the very reason I think that I’m able to catch up with my own spiritual and personal growth just being able to take hold of the “NOW” moment and removing all the mental noise.
For #3 I really recommend your subscribers, fans, and/or readers to get the book“A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers will rule the future.” By Daniel H. Pink hands down one of the best books I’ve ever read. And having fun is definitely something I try HARD not to forget. Good thing I have my 5 year old to remind as he lives in the moment. And I’m off right now to read your four other tips. I’m sure it will be GREAT as you bring out the best in everything situations, people, business, Thank You D for putting this together. YOU ROCK!!!
